Canada Post will resume international mail delivery and acceptance to addressees from December 23.
Although negotiations between the Canadian company and its striking employees have reached an impasse after less than a month, Canada Post will resume international mail flows with partner countries next week. This week, Latvijas Pasts will gradually send out mail that has been stored at the sorting center since November 15. The company will manage postal services according to the FIFO (first in, first out) principle, processing and delivering the oldest mail first.
Latvijas Pasts will promptly transfer the mail to Canada Post, but urges you to expect that there is a high probability of delivery delays to the final recipients. This will be associated with significant backlogs of mail that have been stored from various postal operators due to the strike, which the Canadian postal operator needs to process and deliver to the addressees. Canada Post will provisionally process and deliver the mail that has been stored so far to the final recipients over several weeks. Canada Post apologizes for the inconvenience caused and is doing everything possible to minimize the impact of the strike on postal deliveries.
